Throughout May and June the Library is trialling the introduction of weekly Computer Classes with the aim of sharing basic computing hints and tips in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
Hoi, the Library’s e-Services Librarian will be available to give you tips to improve your computing skills whatever the need may be e.g. setting up an email account, searching online databases, formatting documents.
The classes will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 2.00pm to 4.00pm in the Library Meeting Room. You are welcome to drop in for as long as you like, even if for only five minutes to have a simple query answered.
Participants must have basic mouse and keyboard skills and be a current Library member.
The Library will be closed for minor renovations from Saturday 29 May 2010 up to and including Wednesday 2 June 2010.
While the Library is closed any loans that you would like to return can be taken to the Leisurelife Centre located immediately behind the Library at the corner of Glouscester and Kent Street - http://www.vicpark.ws/recreation_leisure/index.cfm?link=210.
We apologise for any inconvenience the closure may cause.

Children can use the internet for many reasons. These could include to:
- learn skills
- find assistance with school assignments
- gain knowledge
- keep in touch with friends
Knowing how to use the internet safely is essential to having a positive online experience. For parents and their children, knowing how to apply these skills in a library environment is just as important as it is in the home, school and internet café.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) produced the Cybersmart guide for families, which is available free at the Library. The guide aims to provide practical advice and information on safe internet use.
