Enjoy a Shot of History – 2010 Photo Awards Entries
A new chapter of the Town of Victoria Park’s photographic history is now part of the Local History Collection which was on public display recently at The Park Centre, Albany Highway, East Victoria Park. The exhibition is now on display at the Town of Victoria Park Library until Friday 2 July.
All the photos in the exhibition were entries submitted to the Local History Collection 2010 Photo Awards that were to be enjoyed out in the public arena before being catalogued and safely archived in the Town of Victoria Park’s local history collection for posterity. Congratulations to all the winners and runners-up of the 2010 Photo Awards, winning $400 and $150 respectively:
In the Photo Study Category: The Park Centre $400 First Prize: Allan Homewood - “The Corner Shops of Victoria Park: a photographic record. Runner up: Diane Pope - SW Clarke Pty Ltd celebrating 10 years in business.
In the Pre 1950 Category:The Park Centre $400 First Prize: Ray Webster - 'Carlisle Milk Run.' Runner up: Diane Pope - 'Windows showing fashion of the time.'
In the 1951 to 1979 Category:The Park Centre $400 First Prize: Rod Williams - 'New roundabout c1955.' Runner up: Brian Raftis - 'Aerial photo Lathlain Oval.'
In the 1980 - 2008 Category: The Park Centre $400 First Prize: Robert Clarke - 'Gone but not forgotten' (1994) Clarevale Isaiah Pty Ltd liqueur wine & spirit manufacturer. Runner-up: Ray Webster - 'Old Victoria Park Railway Station 2008 looking towards Carlisle.'

It is for reference only, ensuring all information is available at all times. You may photocopy information held in the collection.
What is in the collection ? Books, newsletters, photographs, newspaper cuttings, maps, oral history interviews, microfiche records of local newspapers and rate books from 1898 to 1946.
